    DINING
Sol and Luna - Serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets, this restaurant serves international fare and a weekly Dominican feast. Under a sky-painted dome, the open-air restaurant occupies the middle of the resort's dining center, which resembles a colorful village surrounding a plaza, with "storefronts" serving various buffet items.

Cafe Sonora - With seating in the dining-center plaza, this dinner-only à la carte restaurant serves Mexican fare. Reservations required.

Thai Orchid - Also located in the dining center, this Thai restaurant provides terrace seating with sweeping sea views. Serving an à la carte menu for dinner, the restaurant requires reservations.

Coconuts - Adjacent to the beach, this casual spot features à la carte Caribbean food in the evening. Reservations required.

Citrus - This round, air-conditioned, à la carte dinner house serves Mediterranean fare in a setting of stone walls and a beam ceiling. Although not part of the All-Inclusive Plan, Ovando features fine wines.

Santos Bar - Located inside the dining center, this colorful place offers saddle seats at the bar.

Drifters - This spot serves fast foods and tropical drinks on wood decks on the beach.

The resort includes a lobby bar and three swim-up pool bars. The lobby bar and one pool bar remain open until midnight. Opus nightclub serves drinks until early morning, but they are not part of the All-Inclusive Plan.

Room service is available 24 hours, but a delivery fee is charged.

    AMENITIES & SERVICES
What to expect: Dazzlingly pink and white between green tropical mountains and the turquoise-and-blue Atlantic Ocean, the resort resembles a contemporary seaside village. Terraces built into the mountainside down to the sea naturally separate activities from tranquil havens.

Amenity highlights: From the mountaintop down to a long beach on a large bay, seven pools on various levels offer swim-up bars (one in a cool grotto), cool-water spas, a 12-foot water slide, adults-only peace-and-quiet, and family activities. Between the oceanfront pool complex and the beach, an expansive sand terrace provides sun, shade, hammocks, a volleyball court, and ample room for enjoying the tropical sun.

Insider tip: The resort provides complimentary shuttle service to neighboring Ocean World Park, which, by some measures, is the world's largest "marine-life encounter park."

The 234-room resort welcomes guests into a marble lobby under a massive wood dome. Lodging buildings are scattered on the natural contours of a steep mountainside that features numerous stairways and steep paths. Facilities include an air-conditioned children's club, a theater where nightly shows are presented, and an underground disco called Opus. Massages are also availble.
