Driving directions from Puerto Plata International Gregorio Luperón Airport: Outside the airport, turn left on Hwy 5 and follow the signs for Sosua. Continue past Sosua to the small village of Cabarete. At the second gas station after Sosua, turn left to the brightly-colored hotel.

Getting there: The easiest way is by taxis which charge fares of $16–$25. Rental cars are also available online for more than $36. Fees subject to change without notice.

Getting around: Guests can stroll a block into the village of Cabarete and find plenty of small shopping and eating places, or hop on the hotel’s complimentary bicycles to explore the area. Públicos (public buses) travel from Cabarete to Sosua for fares less than $5 while taxi fare to Sosua is in the $5–$15 range. The hotel can arrange motorcycle rental for $16–$25 a day. Fees subject to change without notice.

Rooms are only available in the All-Inclusive Plan. They offer one king bed or two double beds and accommodate a maximum of four guests.

Casa Luna - Raised on a wood platform with views of the sea and offering both air-conditioned and deck seating, this restaurant serves à la carte Italian fare for dinner. Reservations required.

Asian Gardens - This open-air dinner place specializes in Asian cuisine served à la carte. Reservations required.

The Loop Snack Bar - Accessible to pool and beach, this bar serves drinks until 1 AM. From noon until early evening, fast food such as burgers, hot dogs, and fried chicken is available.

Las Uvas - This spot serves power shakes, salads, and other healthful foods. In late afternoon, "tea time" treats are available.

Iguana Bar - This beach bar is open from mid-afternoon until 11 PM.

Las Olas - Although not part of the All-Inclusive Plan, this romantic dinner house features lobster and grilled items along with fine wines, all available at extra charges.

Room service is not available.

Amenity highlights: Idling beachniks enjoy windsurfing and boogie boarding thrills vicariously. Options to the long beach include two pools, one good-sized and the other small. The main pool complex includes a children's pool at one end and a raised, 10-person spa at the other.

Insider tip: Five miles away in the town of Sosua and accessible by complimentary shuttle bus, pools and other facilities at a two-section sister resort, Victorian House and Sosua Bay Hotel, are open to Estrella del Mar guests. Lunch may be taken at restaurants there as part of the All-Inclusive Plan.
